The legs were talking to me right out of the gate today. They were sore and felt flat. It was a tough one. I also ended up with a rear flat about 8 miles out from the finish and decided I didn't have the energy to fix it. So, I just kept riding...ha! Good times.

40+ Novice division. The race was awesome, and the drinks after were great. However there were some racers who refused to move out of the way which was unnecessary. I most likely would not have moved up any positions, but my time would have been better. It was just very disapointing that they chose to "block" other racers from advancing. Maybe next time when someone is riding your back wheel for a mile or two, you will politely move over!

Felt great the entire race until I hit the deck at mile 18. Hi speed decent and the next thing I know I'm doing a head plant and my bike is being launched into the trees. I had just put in e serge to try to put time between me and Scott Young for third place. I picked my self up and was able to get past Scott again only to start losing air in my rear tire. It gets better. With a mile of so and a couple of nice climbs left. I was nursing my tire situation and powering up a steep climb and bye bye chain..snap! I could have taken the short cut to the finish but decided to finish the race. I pushed, ran, coasted, and one leg pushed my bike to the finish. My shoulder from my crash is unusable, my helmet was broken but aside from missing a chain (who needs a chain) my bike was ok. Katie dominated the women's race from start to finish. Awesome!

Cold temps made for good racing conditions. The lap at the end around the camp ground broke my spirits.

A day of firsts. First race of the season and happy with the result. First sport division race which was a blast. Weather was cool and overcast. Tried to take a slow and steady approach and it worked pretty well. Should have put the pedal down earlier so I wasn't able to crack the top 5 in Clydesdale as I'd hoped. Climbed my nemis, after the covered bridge, without putting a toe down, which is a first. All for little victories. Spent the remainder of the race finding rabbitts and picking them off. Finished with a 3:01 which was a personal best. Good day had by all on the team w/ a top 5 for Austin, a third for Matt and strong rides for Nick and Jason. Good day for the Roasters.
